Lanvin has opened a store in Miami’s Design District after leaving Bal Harbour Shops, the site of its first freestanding boutique in the United States.

The luxury French retailer closed its store at Bal Harbour Shops in mid-September after five years and five months, said spokeswoman Julia Catherine Erdman, declining to explain the reason for the move.

At 150 NE 40th St. in the Design District, Lanvin’s boutique is filled with designer Alber Elbaz’s collection of women’s and men’s ready-to-wear fashions and accessories. With 2,270 square feet, the store is a temporary base while Lanvin awaits the completion of its two-story, 3,365 square-foot, permanent shop in the Design District.

When it is completed in March 2015, the permanent Lanvin store will be at 107 NE 39th St., next to Tom Ford, and across from Tiffany & Co. and Givenchy, said Dacra President and Chief Executive Craig Robins, who is leading the transformation of the Design District into a luxury shopping destination.
